About Us

Whitehall Group specialises in the provision of self-invested pension schemes. We provide two types of pension: Small Self-Administered Schemes (SSAS) and Self-Invested Personal Pensions (SIPP). These are known as “Member-Directed” pension schemes because the members make the investment, contribution and retirement decisions, usually with advice from an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).

Our experience

The owners have over 50 years’ combined experience specialising in this area and have developed a wealth of knowledge and commitment to delivering the level of service you expect, with complete support throughout the entire process.

We provide whole of market access combined with a highly competitive and clear pricing structure. This, coupled with our simple and well-developed processes allows for efficient administration whilst treating our customers fairly to help them achieve their financial goals.

It is important to stress that we are not financial advisers and are not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority to give financial or investment advice.

  • SSASs are regulated by HM Revenue & Customs and The Pensions Regulator.
  • We are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority to operate our SIPP, which is also registered with HM Revenue & Customs.
  • All SSASs and our companies are registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) as Data Controllers under the General Data Protection Regulations.

We are principally a regional firm located in the North West but we provide national coverage with clients ranging the length and breadth of the country and are members of our trade association the Association of Member-Directed Pension Schemes (AMPS).

Our Story

Whitehall Group was formed in late 2011 by its owner-directors Richard Mattison and Jane Davies who continue to own the business. Both Richard and Jane had previously worked for many years in the self-invested pension sector for other firms and felt the time was right to inject some personality and personal service into the sector whilst using technology to modernise and streamline the administration processes.

Since that time the business has flourished and grown organically, receiving many accolades along the way.

The company was located in Bury, North Manchester, close to Jane’s heartland and with good access to an already established network of business introducers. In late 2023 the company moved to the pretty mill town of Ramsbottom to occupy new offices on the high street, purchased by Jane and Richard’s own SSAS. After all, you need to practice what you preach!

Meet The Team

How we Chose our Name

When considering a name for a company providing pension arrangements, we felt it was important to reflect the gravity of the services we provide. Solid, established and safe were some of the key words we considered. Whilst we produced a long list of possibilities we still struggled to find the right name. Then one day, we were discussing the Royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton that took place earlier in the year and what a joyous occasion it was. We particularly enjoyed the part where Prince William took Kate for a drive in a vintage Aston Martin down the Mall and into Whitehall……….

Whitehall! The penny dropped and the name was born.

Whitehall is recognised as the centre of Government in the UK, lined with numerous departments and ministries it represents the stability and security of our country and symbolises what you would expect from a firm that operates your retirement arrangements.
