SSAS Loans: A Summary

SSAS Loans: A Summary

Loans from SSASs to finance business projects are proving to be enduringly popular and we have therefore prepared this summary of the rules and requirements which we hope will be useful.

A Small Self-Administered Scheme (SSAS) is permitted to lend money to its establishing and contributing employers as well as to unconnected third parties. They cannot make loans to connected parties who are not sponsoring employers of the SSAS. Connected parties are defined in Section 993 of the Income Tax Act 2007.
